Carolina Shearer - Multifaceted textile creative

Swedish/American fashion designer Carolina Shearer is an experienced and innovative designer and pattern maker with multiple years of hands-on experience handling several collections from start to finish in autonomous design and material sourcing roles. She is skilled in trend analysis, coherent garment and collection design and posess extensive material knowledge. She is also a keen illustrator working mainly with digital tools to create her artwork and print designs.

Equipped with the ability to identify needs and opportunities as well as overcome obstacles by utilizing skills gained in the creative industry. Particularly passionate about sustainable and ethical fashion and work towards a more responsible industry.

Studio Carolina Shearer is a self-founded company focused on creating and selling PDF-sewing patterns for home sewist. Every pattern and style is designed and created by Carolina herself and is available for purchase on the website for Studio Carolina Shearer.

FREELANCE FASHION DESIGNER

At the end of 2022 Carolina decided to pursue Fashion Design on a freelance basis, giving her the opportunity to work with multiple clients on various different projects. Her main client since August 2022 has been the Swedish premium resort wear brand Mandibreeze.

AÉRYNE PARIS - France/Sweden

Designer   

Functions: In charge of design, collection building and material sourcing

Working as the solo designer for the brand doing everything from designing knitwear and woven pieces, building the collection plans, sourcing fabrics and accessories, creating all the technical files and flat drawings, doing extensive seasonal research and compiling the trend reports for each season. As well as attending fitting sessions to evaluate samples.

BALZAC PARIS - France

Internship (end of studies) - Creative studio    

Functions: Design and pattern maker assistant.

Tasks included knitwear design, pattern making, sewing and repairs, flat drawings, textile print design, sock design (motif and form/details), making gradation size tables in excel as well as technical sheets for both knitwear, ready to wear and socks. Worked in direct contact with manufacturers for launching productions and retouching prototypes. As well as being in charge of everything regarding printing and dying on T-shirts and sweaters.

CRÉATION CONSEIL - France

Internship - Uniform designer for luxury brands
Functions: Flat drawings, moodboard, image editing, silhouettes.
Had various work assignments during the internship effectively gaining a broad understanding of how a small fashion company is organized and run.

Senior year project: The team of two developed the idea of colored pads and panty liners which were produced by the global hygiene company SCA Hygiene Products AB (Bodyform/Nana).

OKAYAMA DENIM X ESMOD PARIS

First Prize        
Contest consisting of creating (sewing and designing) universal clothes in denim. The prize was a trip to the denim province Okayama (Japan), broadcast on national television, visits to multiple textile factories as well as meeting with the mayor of Okayama.
